MAGGIE Mcbride, principal + Founder

Registered Architect living and working in Chicago. Owner of a small-woman-owned business and not mad about it. I collaborate with some amazing design studios big + small and have projects + clients across the country. You can see some of my more recent work and the badass folks I collaborate with at Smith Hanes Studio and Bunker Design Collaborative.

I pride myself in not having just one focus with project types. I have worked on Commercial Hospitality, Restaurant + Bar, Retail, Office, Residential and Adaptive Reuse projects. Diversity, sustainability, humility and openness are all key parts to my ethos on design theory. A space needs to have natural light, natural materials and honest functionality, but it also has to make you feel good.    

It’s A Practice. Practice. Practice. I learn something new everyday and sharing that knowledge with clients I think is integral to our projects success. I really enjoy working together with all the moving parts and players that make a project whole. The relationships I have formed through my career are invaluable. Every project and client requires a long-standing partnership and lots of communication which I am comfortable providing.

Current research + design focus: AFFORDABLE HOUSING + MY FUTURE COMMUNE/CAMPGROUND.

Work/Life Balance is integral to my approach to design. I am outdoors often and have been enjoying traveling near and far, finding inspiration and experience along the way. I have a solid group of people around me and really have fun at life with them. I also play all the sports and like to win.
